Objective:

Principle of Movement: Understand how movement directs the viewer's eye through the artwork and creates a sense of action or rhythm.

  • Pixel Stretch Technique: Learn how to manipulate images in Photoshop to create a stretched effect that conveys movement.

Movement as a principle of design guides the viewer's eye through an artwork or design, creating a sense of flow and direction. It can be achieved through lines, shapes, colors, and textures that lead the audience's gaze from one element to another. By effectively using movement, designers can ensure that their message is clearly communicated and visually engaging.

3. Stretch Pixel Shooting

Partner up and head outside. Adjust your shutterspeed to freeze a shot of your partner performing a movement. I'd recommend shooting against a wall so remove background can work easily for you in Photoshop. Return to class and complete your own pixel stretch photo.
