On Camera Flash Outdoors
Today we'll be revisiting our lesson from last week on external flash. Only this time, you'll be using the speedlite outside of the classroom in various locations to see the difference between bounce light and direct flash.
We will have our flashes set again to TTL, which means that the camera's ambient exposure settings (shutter speed, aperture, and ISO) control the background, while TTL calculates the automatic flash power needed to light your foreground subject
Make sure your camera is set to RAW!
To make your photos interesting, we will be breaking out the hats and the gems again. Find different spots on camera to shoot:
The dark parts of the stair well
A sunny spot on the quad
A shady part of campus
Have your subject turn their back to the sun vs. Facing the sun (See how the flash effects that exposure)
Play with different angles of shooting (bird's eye view/ worm's eye view)
Experiment with distance from your subject
Experiment with the angle of your flash! Shoot in bothd direct flash, and bounced flash
Submit 6 different poses with varying flash angles to Schoology when we return to class.
