How to Photograph a Glitter Blow with a Canon Rebel and 50mm Lens

Taking photographs of a glitter blow can be a fun and creative project. In this guide, we'll walk through the steps to capture stunning images using a Canon Rebel camera with a 50mm lens and an external flash.

    Gather Your Equipment

    • Canon Rebel camera

    • 50mm lens

    • External flash unit

    • Tripod (optional)

    • Glitter or other reflective material

    Set Up Your Camera

    1. Attach the 50mm lens to your Canon Rebel camera.

    2. Turn on your camera and set it to manual mode. This will give you more control over the exposure settings.

    3. Set your ISO to a low value, around 100-400, to minimize noise in your images.

    4. Choose a wide aperture, like f/2.8 or f/4, to create a shallow depth of field and focus attention on your subject.

    5. Adjust your shutter speed to around 1/1000 (or slightly under that if you need more light) to freeze the motion of the glitter.

    Capture the Glitter Blow

    1. Have your subject gently blow the glitter or reflective material into the air.

    2. Time your shutter press to capture the moment when the glitter is at its peak.

    3. Take several shots, adjusting your camera settings as needed to achieve the best results.

    Edit

    1. Add an adjustment layer for brightness & contrast, curves, and levels

    2. Adjust your shadows, midtones, and highlights

Remember, photography is an art form, and it may take some practice to perfect your glitter blow technique. Have fun and be creative!
