2. Shooting In Macro Mode

   Today you'll be shooting in Macro Mode. Macro Mode is another automatic mode on your DSLR camera that creates a shallow depth of field (blurred background) when your lens is close to the small (macro) object you're photographing.

   Take and submit 10 photographs of smaller objects in macro mode, with a shallow depth of field.

   Compose your photographs with the rule of thirds.

   

   
   

   

   On the mode dial you’ll see a little flower icon, this is the macro mode setting. It allows you to take photographs of smaller objects while creating a shallow depth of field. We'll spend a great deal of time talking about depth of field this semester, but for now, know that it refers to the blur you see behind your subject.
